Look what I found when I picked up this month’s issue of Junk:
That photo on the right? I took that during SingleTrackMind‘s [hey.] tour in Kuching. I’ve been meaning to send something in ever since Andrea introduced me to the magazine (and faithfully loaned me her “import” copies every month). Junk finally arrived in Kuching about three months ago and I’m now getting my own copies. See? Got demand here too.
I finally sent something in a couple of months ago and forgot about it. The blog URL I sent in was for my WordPress blog, so I guess I should expect some traffic from there.
Junk’s worth a look if you’re into music. I’m not just saying this because they are giving me a goodie bag for my photo. I love it that the main focus is on local and regional acts. Oh sure they have Linkin Park on the cover this month and Kanye West on last month’s issue, but the bulk of the content is stuff that I want to read about when I pick up a Malaysian mag on music and my tastes are a little more diverse than reality TV generated fare. I’m more interested in the “little guys” who do the indie rounds.
Each issue of Junk comes with a sampler CD so you can actually hear what these “little guys” sound like. I have to say that whether or not I like the CD depends on whether or not I have to same taste in music as the compiler.
Anyway, this was a nice perk to my day. I’m very narcissistic, you know. I peeked at it at least 20 times already, enjoying how my name and URLs look on glossy paper, and how shiny the photo looks.
